Opera Guild Of Dayton

Opera Guild Of Dayton

Our mission is to encourage and promote opera in the Greater Dayton area and to support Dayton Opera through fundraising, marketing and education activities. The Opera Guild of Dayton was founded in 1963

A Repeat Performance Fashion Event

Opera Guild members and all their friends are invited to an evening of shopping at Chico’s in the shops of Oakwood on Far Hills.  Just in time to do some serious shopping for the holidays, Chico’s will open their doors for two evenings just for friends of the Opera Guild.  Mark Wednesday and/or Thursday, November 5 and 6 on your calendar now and call Toni Winger at 298-1061, or e-mail TCTONI@aol.com  to make your reservation.

There is no charge for this event, but in order for Chico’s to have enough staff on hand to properly service all customers, we need to have your name on the list.  Our goal is to have forty guests each evening which is a comfortable number for Chico’s and their staff.  Convenient parking is in front of the shop or directly behind the store in a large lot.

Come to shop anytime from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and refreshments will be served.  You are assured a fun evening out, and the best part is that Chico’s will donate a percentage of every sale to The Opera Guild of Dayton and will also donate a door prize to one lucky attendee, so be sure to get your name on the reservation list.   At last!  A fun and easy way to raise funds for our many Guild projects.

Please forward this to all of your friends.  Just be sure to send their reservation to Toni!

Membership Luncheon

Singing for Spring

Opera Guild of Dayton members and their guests held their annual Membership Luncheon on February 27, 2014, at Moraine Country Club. This event did tease attendees with thoughts of spring with the bright sunshine outdoors and the cheerful camaraderie inside.

There was fabulous food and wonderful door prizes. The entertainment by Dayton Opera’s Artists-in-Residence was loved by all.

Hansel and Gretel Brunch

Opera Guild of Dayton and other fans of wonderful music and fine food met for a Hansel and Gretel Sunday Brunch at Crowne Plaza Hotel  in downtown Dayton on Sunday, February 23, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. They enjoyed the spectacular view while dining on sumptuous omelets, bacon, hash browns, fresh fruit, French toast and much more. And they were welcomed by Gary Mitchner’s grandchildren who came dressed for the part.

Part of the proceeds from the Brunch will go to support Dayton Opera and the Guild’s many educational programs.

50th Anniversary Celebration

The 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration Dinner was held on November 23 to commemorate the close of a year of special events for the 50 years of achievements by the Opera Guild. It was a glittering affair full of memories. The keepsake 50th Anniversary Book was presented to each attendee to keep those memories alive for years to come and to inspire new possibilities for our next 50 years.

Entertainment was provided by Alyssa Martin, 2012 Tri-State College Vocal Competition Winner, and Adam Fry, 2006  Winner and a star in the Dayton Opera production of Tosca this season.
